KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and the WMU Athletics Hall of Fame Committee have announce the 2024 Hall of Fame Class. Dennis Corbin (administration), Nathan Langlois (men's track and field), Steve Neal (football), Tony Scheffler (football), Jennifer Sturgis (gymnastics), and Randy Wojtala (men's soccer) will be honored at this year's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held during WMU Homecoming weekend on October 25-26.

"The 2024 Hall of Fame class represents some of the finest Broncos who have left a legacy here on campus," said Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae."I can think of no better way to kick off Homecoming weekend than to welcome this special class back to Kalamazoo to celebrate their place in history. We invite all alums to join us on this special occasion."

Dennis Corbin
Administration | 1982-2018
Flint, Mich.

  • Joined the Western Michigan Athletics department in 1982 as the head athletics trainer
  • Spent 36 years in Bronco Athletics holding several titles from head athletics trainer to Senior Associate AD for Medical Services
  • Worked with, mentored, and made lasting impacts on thousands of WMU Student-Athletesfrom every sport program
  • Served on the Western Michigan University's Council of Institutional Diversity and Multiculturalism
  • Represented the Athletic Department as a member of the Campus Climate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Tactical Action Committee
  • Recognized as the MATS Distinguished Athletic Trainer (2009)
  • Inducted into the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society (MATS) Hall of Fame (2014)
  • Won the MAC Diversity and Inclusion Award (2018)

Nathan Langlois
Men's Track & Field | 1990-1993
Grand Rapids, Mich.

  • MAC Track & Field Championship Most Outstanding Performer (1993)
  • NCAA Indoor All-American in the 200-meter dash after finishing seventh overall (1993)
  • NCAA Outdoor All-American in the 200-meter dash after finishing 10th overall (1992)
  • Three-time MAC Champion in the 200-meter dash (1991, 92, 93)
  • Won MAC titles in the 100-meter dash (1993), the 4x400-meter relay (1992), and the 4x100-meter relay (1993)
  • Third all-time in WMU history in the indoor 200m (21.18) dash and fifth all-time in the outdoor 200-meter dash (20.74)

Steve Neal
Football | Wide Receiver | 1997-2001
Benton Harbor, Mich.

  • Three-time First Team All-MAC selection (1998, 1999, 2000)
  • First 1,000-yard receiver in program history
  • 14 career 100-yard receiving games
  • Set WMU career records in career receptions (235), receiving yards (3,599), and touchdown receptions (27)
  • Set WMU season records in receptions (74), receiving yards (1,113 and 1,121), and touchdown receptions (11)
  • Tied the then-program record for receiving touchdowns in a game with three
  • Helped WMU to a MAC Championship Game appearance (2000)


Tony Scheffler
Football | Tight End | 2002-2005
Chelsea, Mich.

  • Two-time First Team All-MAC selection (2004 & 2005)
  • Academic All-District IV First Team Selection (2004 & 2005)
  • Finished career ranked second in WMU history among tight ends in receptions (117) and receiving yards (1,345)
  • Finished with 13 career touchdown receptions
  • Finished fourth in voting for the John Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end in 2005
  • Named a CollegeFootballNews.com All-American (2005)
  • Drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, playing eight seasons with the Broncos and the Detroit Lions
  • Also, a 3-year letter winner for WMU baseball, starting 31 games as a sophom*ore, hitting .314 and 5 home runs


Jennifer Sturgis Astle
Gymnastics | All-Around | 2004-2007
Novi, Mich.

  • Became the third gymnast in program history to earn MAC Gymnast of the Year (2007)
  • Named MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year (2007)
  • Helped WMU win the MAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships (2006)
  • Won MAC Championship individual titles in the all-around, beam, and vault (2006)
  • Qualified for NCAA Regionals in the all-around (2006, 2007)
  • Set a school record in the all-around with a 39.225 against Michigan State (2007)
  • Tied the then school record on beam with a 9.900 against Michigan State (2007)
  • Two-time Academic All-MAC(2006, 2007)
  • COSIDA Academic All-American (2006)

Randy Wojtala
Men's Soccer | Forward | 1976-1979
Detroit, Mich.

  • Set the WMU record for career goals scoring (29), which stood for 17 years
  • Set the WMU record for career points (74), which stood for 17 years
  • Set the WMU record for single-season goal (16), which stood for 46 years
  • Set the WMU record for points in a season (39), which stood for 46 years
  • Set the WMU record for points in a game (9, 4 goals/ 1 assist) (1977 vs. Chicago)
  • Became the first WMU player to earn an invitation to USA National Team tryouts (1977)
  • Set the NCAA record for fastest consecutive goals (14 seconds) against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 23, 1978)
  • WMU Team Captain (1979)


The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at Miller Auditorium. The cost is $50 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased here. All past WMU Hall of Fame inductees will receive one complimentary ticket to this year's ceremony by emailing maya.a.dragicevich@wmich.edu

The inductees will also be recognized during halftime of the annual Homecoming football game against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 26.
